The relationship
Peppol, InvoiceNow and IMDA are connected—but not interchangeable.
OpenPeppol governs the international interoperability framework. IMDA is the Peppol Authority in Singapore and sets local requirements for the network. InvoiceNow is the Singapore network built on Peppol, while accredited providers and compatible business software give organisations a practical route onto that network.

In practical terms: “Peppol” describes the wider framework; “InvoiceNow” describes its Singapore network implementation.
Current IRAS phases
When does the GST InvoiceNow Requirement apply?
IRAS publishes a phased implementation schedule. For existing GST-registered businesses, “total annual supplies” refers to the relevant supplies made in prescribed accounting periods ending in calendar year 2025.

How businesses connect to InvoiceNow
Your existing system is the starting point. The two routes below are common planning patterns, not automatic recommendations.
Existing accounting or finance software
Many SMEs may connect through an InvoiceNow-Ready Solution Provider or software that incorporates an accredited connection.
- Check the exact product and version.
- Verify current status on the IMDA list.
- Confirm supported invoices, credit notes and purchase flows.
- Ask what activation, testing and support are included.
Using Xero, QuickBooks or another commercial system does not by itself prove that your specific setup is ready.
Custom ERP or enterprise system
An in-house or highly customised system may connect through an IMDA-accredited Access Point Provider.
- Define data mapping and interface design.
- Cover APIs or file exchange, validation and security.
- Test exceptions, rejection and reconciliation.
- Assign operational ownership and ongoing support.
The Access Point connects systems to the network; implementation scope and ERP changes still need to be agreed.

Access Point Provider vs InvoiceNow-Ready Solution Provider
Both terms describe a role, not a ranking. Current official status should be checked at the source, and commercial suitability still needs buyer validation.

Is Peppol the same as InvoiceNow?
No. Peppol is the international interoperability framework. InvoiceNow is Singapore’s nationwide e-invoicing network based on that framework.
Who is the Peppol Authority in Singapore?
The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) is Singapore’s Peppol Authority and accredits relevant Peppol service providers in Singapore.
Do I need an Access Point Provider?
The route depends on your system. An off-the-shelf InvoiceNow-ready solution may already incorporate an accredited connection, while an in-house enterprise system typically works with an accredited Access Point Provider.
Can I keep my current accounting software?
Possibly. Check whether the exact product and version is currently InvoiceNow-ready, which documents it supports, and what activation or implementation work is required.
What if my company uses a custom ERP?
A custom or in-house ERP may require an Access Point route plus integration design, data mapping, interfaces, testing, error handling, reconciliation and defined support ownership.
When does GST InvoiceNow become mandatory for my business?
IRAS is implementing the requirement in phases from November 2025 to April 2031. Your date depends on your registration route and, for existing GST-registered businesses, total annual supplies. Verify the date directly with IRAS.
Does FinWaypoint connect businesses to Peppol?
No. FinWaypoint is an independent planning service. It does not issue Peppol IDs, operate an Access Point, transmit invoices, file data with IRAS or certify compliance.
